Modi Government is completing its first year in office during May. People have huge expectations from Modi and the Government has brought about some substantial changes for the country. It has had a few successes and a few failures so we asked our users what they think of Modi’s first year in office. There was a survey in which people were questioned about the performance of Modi sarkar in 1st year.
Firstly people were asked about the overall performance of the Modi government in first year. 4% voted for very poor, 6% voted for poor, 26% voted for average, 36% voted for good, 28% voted for excellent. After that people were asked to rate Modi government’s foreign policies – 3% people rated very poor, 4% rated it poor, 16% rated it as average, 35% rated it as good, 41% rated it as excellent. It seems that people are more or less happy with Modi’s policies and have seen some significantly positive changes brought about by the new Government.
As prime minister is going around and meeting the officials of different countries, people were asked about the highlight of the Modi foreign policy on which 59% believed that it is all set to focus on improving relations with all the countries which is going to be really positive for India in years to come.
The next question that the survey puts across people is how they rate Modi’s economic policy? To which 5% people replied by rating it as very poor, 7% rated it as poor, 27% rated it as average, 39% rated it as good, 22% rated it as excellent.
People think that the biggest economic policy win is Jan Dhan Yojna resulting in opening of 10 crore bank accounts while the biggest failure is the bad condition of farmers in India.
Respondents were also asked about two of the cornerstone projects kick-started by Modi – namely Smart Cities and Make in India campaign. Majority of respondents feel that “Make in India” needs more ground work and has little potential in the current avatar while most people feel that Government should first improve existing cities before building new smart cities.
Coming to major controversies during last one year – Majority of people don’t feel that there was anything wrong with Modi wearing a Rs. 10 Lakh suit. The other major controversy during last year has been around the communal speeches given by a number of BJP leaders; however, people feel that India being a multi-religious country, these kinds of things are bound to happen.
All in all, people seem to be in a mood to give Modi Sarkar more time. Majority of the people (64%) are happy with the performance of the government but they wish for more development and betterment in a lot of different fields.
