Today, we welcome SJ to Baggout’s series on “Interviews with Style Divas”. She is a wealth manager by the day and an ethical fashion blogger by the night. Don’t worry if you don’t know what ethical fashion means as SJ will shed light on that during the interview. She runs a beautiful blog under the name ”Style Destino“ which has quite a following.
BG – Tell us something about yourself. Which three words would describe you best?
SJ – A self-confessed perfectionist, I strongly believe in living an ethical life that extends even to my closet. A finance major juggling time between wealth management and fashion with StyleDestino.
Three words: Controlling, strong-willed, positive.
BG – How would you describe your blog in one sentence?
SJ – StyleDestino is an ethical style blog {no leather, no product with animal cruelty, vegetarian and vegan} that sometimes strays to food and travel.
BG – What is your Favorite Online Shopping Destination?
SJ – Oh there are many, but my absolute favourites are
a) www.farfetch.com for luxury shopping they have an immense collection of beautiful clothes, shoes and accessories from boutiques and stores from all over the world,
b) www.shopbop.com they deliver worldwide and take all custom duties and taxes at the time of shopping, you don’t have to worry about paying them on delivery,
c) www.asos.com (had faced some delivery issues with them earlier but it looks sorted now and their collection is unmatchable), and
d) Back home it is www.perniaspopupshop.com.
BG – Five beauty essentials in your bag.
SJ – In my handbag you’ll always find my lip balm (I shuffle between Elizabeth Arden and La Mer), hand cream from Barefoot Botanicals its vegan and all natural ingredients; I hate dry hands, Laqa & Co fat lip pencil for some colour – its not only vegan but so easy to apply, a packet of tissues (just can’t do without them) and a miniature perfume, currently it is Miss Dior.
BG – Five wardrobe essentials you cannot live without.
SJ – A pair of great fitting jeans (love those from Rag&Bone), a signature pair of sunglasses, a pair of comfy heels – its either chic wedges or sling backs, a perfectly tailored blazer since it has the power to give polish to the simplest of outfit like a pair of jeans and tee and a great watch {Michael Kors oversized rose gold is currently donning my wrist).
BG – If you could peak into someone’s wardrobe, whose wardrobe would it be and Why?
SJ – Olivia Palermo has an incredibly covetable wardrobe. I love her feminine chic style and her unmatchable instinct of mixing things up. Whether it is artfully wearing a print clash, combining high street with luxury (think Valentino with Zara), infusing a splash of colour to her outfit or experimenting with the latest trend, she always delivers a polished put-together look. Her wardrobe and style is par excellence.
Closer home, it is Sonam Kapoor (and she’s literally my next door neighbour).
BG – What is your Craziest Purchase in last three months?
SJ – It was my sister’s wedding earlier in December, so it’s this Manish Malhotra floor length kurta with sharara pants. Beautiful coral and pink. I went sans jewelry (nearly) and very easy on makeup to ensure my outfit does not overpower the bride and I easily look like the bride’s sister.
BG – If you have to do your own fashion show, who would you like to invite as a showstopper?
SJ – Olsen sisters. I love how these petite women carry themselves so well and make every outfit work. Being a petite {prefix extra} myself, I’d be thrilled to walk with them myself and I’d be a nice break. I am tired of watching all those super skinny tall women.
BG – One fashion tip every woman should follow?
SJ – Wear what makes you feel confident, fits you right and flatters your body type; and don’t be a slave of trends.
BG – What does Baggout mean to you?
SJ – Baggout is a wonderful platform, it artfully blends social networking with shopping that makes it a great place to shop with. Since Baggout is like an online display store that does not sell own products but pulls great products of all major online shopping stores, it offers a huge selection of products making shopping a great experience. Kudos to Baggout team for creating this great website.
BG – Thanks for stopping by and giving awesome style tips to our readers.
