Today, we welcome Debjani who runs a beautiful blog called “The Magic Of Words“ to Baggout. Getting straight to the interview
BG- Tell us something about yourself. Which three words would describe you best?
Debjani- I describe myself best as a Bong Vegetarian from Kolkata who took up communication as a profession. I never had a passion for writing in my earlier days but discovered it as a new-found love during my Post-Graduation days. While appreciation started giving a morale boost, occasional writing turned into a passion, so much so that I ended up turning it into a profession. I am now currently heading the communication vertical of a business in a MNC based in Bangalore.
The three words that describe me are Patience, Intellect and Beauty.
BG- How would you describe your blog in one sentence?
Debjani- My blog is titled The Magic of Words (debjanisays.blogspot.in) and its description says, Experience, Learn, Blog! That is exactly what my blog is about. It is my own platform to share my experiences and learnings in different times of my life.
BG- How long have you been blogging? What do you like most about blogging?
Debjani- I was introduced to blogging in early 2008 while pursuing my Master’s Degree in Communication and Journalism. We were told that the sooner we embrace the digital media of communication, the better communicators we would become in the future. And that’s exactly when I created my blog. However, I started blogging regularly only during my first job when I was asked to create my own platform and prove my credibility as a writer.
Blogging is all about putting a face to your thoughts in the form of words. When you blog, you don’t listen to your mind but to your heart. You write exactly what you want and not what your editor wants you to write. It is like an open diary, where you choose to write on different things that interest you and not only your daily work log! This is exactly what I like about blogging. I get to write what I feel like and my readers appreciate this effort too.
BG- What is your Favorite Online Shopping Destination?
Debjani- When it comes to online shopping, I have been royally loyal to Flipkart when it comes to books and CDs & DVDs. I am also hooked on to Amazon these days.
BG- What was your first purchase using your own money?
Debjani- With my first salary, I bought my flight tickets to go back home for a week. A crazy buy that was, because I had no idea that it would sweep off 70% of my salary and I will get to see only a few digits in the bank account for the rest of the month. 😉
BG- What is your craziest purchase in last three months?
Debjani- Not exactly a crazy buy, but definitely an impromptu one. I introduced the world of web to my Mom recently and she demanded that I give her a laptop. Now, it was one laptop and two users and an equally unfair situation. So, I ended up buying a swanky silver HP Touchsmart Pavilion and my mom is happily using the other one!
BG- If you were shipwrecked on a desert island what five items would you want with you?
Debjani- If I were shipwrecked on a deserted island, the five things that I will want with me would be my smart phone, books that I can finish in the solitude, bottles of water, food to survive because crabs and fishes are out of my radar and finally, a good company to spend time with.
BG- How do you think can Baggout help you while shopping online?
Debjani- Baggout is like a big and better shopping arcade, only without a brick-and-mortar model. It is like an easy shopping destination where I can hop in from one store to the other to experience a complete shopping phenomena and without getting exhausted. The option of saving lists for later use is also an excellent feature where I can save my stuff and buy them according to my convenience.
BG- Thanks Debjani for your interview. I hope our users will like it!!!
With Lots of Love
