10. The Arc

It is inspired by the semi rural region surrounding the metropolis of Daegu. It is indigenously designed to mimic the surrounding environment-rivers and forests are reflected in its padded exteriors. Sky and mountains are cast back in the pool on its roof. Inside a 360- degree video wall projects abstraction of the surrounding landscape. It is a tribute to the natural beauty of the South Korean Landscape, it certainly inspires a reverence for the beauty and power of the nature.

Besides bright colours it is energy efficient. Upper floor projects over the lower providing partial shade throughout the day. Revolving sun shade protects the sun facing side of the building. It gives the opportunity to reuse it as a building material long after the structure’s functional life ends.
