A pair of jeans that looks worn out and faded always has more appeal. This can be achieved either by, well, wearing it for years at length, or by following this ‘no sweat’ tip. Prepare a mixture of bleach and water, in equal amounts. Use a paintbrush or a cloth dipped in the concoction, and apply it on the jeans. Focus on the areas you want to dull and decolorize to get that faded look, like the knees or the thighs. Let the bleach water stay overnight, meanwhile checking in between, hourly, to make sure the fading isn’t ultra quick. Just an hour before you are about to wash them, paint the seams one more time to get a uniform fade all over.Source: debbieanddemmie.tumblr.com
When it comes to fraying the pockets, zipper area, waistband or the bottom hems, in short all the crevices of the denim, just use a disposable razor. Yes a razor! Easy right? Scrape the razor back and forth to make patches or to just mess up the jeans a bit and voila! The right kind of frayed look that you wanted!

If you want to distress your denim, but also in a delicate and subtle manner, you can use the blunt surface/edge of a metallic bobby pin, to create small holes in the denim.

Ever wondered how white threads ooze out of the denim? Well, the denim consists of white and blue threads that run horizontally and vertically respectively. Use a scissor to cut horizontal stripes (depends on how big you want the whole to be) and then squeeze out the blue threads with a pair of tweezers. You can also remove and tear some of the white threads as well for an edgier look.

In order to make the jeans look more used and ‘lived-in’ rub sandpaper on it. This will render the denim softer, like it has been worn for ages.
