Veteran Actor and Yester years’ Super star Vinod Khanna ji has passed away at the age of 70 after having a long battle with Cancer.
A statement from the hospital said: “Veteran actor and Member of Parliament Mr. Vinod Khanna, who was admitted to the Sir HN Reliance Foundation Hospital breathed his last at 11.20 am due to advanced bladder carcinoma.
The actor was one of the few Indian film stars (along with Dev Anand, Shammi Kapoor and Rajesh Khanna) who achieved super stardom and were literally throbbed during any public appearances. He starred in a number of hits such as Amar Akbar Anthony, Qurbaani, Muqaddar Ka Sikandar. Mr. Khanna was born in Gurdaspur (Punjab) in 1946 and starred in 141 movies.
He, however, left the film industry and became an Osho Follower when he was at the peak of his stardom in 1982.
He later joined politics in 1997 and won from Gurdaspur on a BJP ticket; later he served as the Minister (of State) in the Ministry of External Affairs in Atal Bihari Vajpeyee’s Government.
He is survived by his wife and four children. May his soul rest in peace and his family gets the strength to pass through this very difficult time.
