Famous old era thought – Earning Outdoors is for Men, Women are for household and children care

India is a unique country. People here have been following religious values for centuries. Under the religious influence, our society has been patriarchal. Under this rule, men have been given the control over the whole system. And this ultimately led to the delineation of role and status of women in our society. The primary task of earning for livelihood was restricted to men only. Again, this led to the businesses and work concerned with men only.

But this happened much longer ago. Slowly and slowly girl education was promoted and widely accepted. Women also came into the teaching profession.

Who Changed It, And How did it happen

When globalization came into the picture, the whole concept was changed. The Indian education bodies and Institutions got changed at par with International ones. Now, businesses running in Europe and Western countries got merged with highly talented Indian workforce. Businesses like logistics, e-commerce, IT solutions, outsourcing services and media are totally new and global. This drastic change brought an ocean of opportunities to all people without any gender concern.

Modernisation not only affected the job sector but lifestyle too. Megacities came into the picture. Towns turned into cities. Cities converted into Metropolitan regions. Urban lifestyle was highly demanding in comparison to the rural one. Money wise and time wise both. Women and girls were no more limited to household chores. Right from the school, a girl starts dreaming her career just like boys. This was totally new and different. In the meantime, problems like inflation, rising unemployment, population explosion and staggered job growth brought new challenges in common man’s life.

All these factors urged women to step out from their home for work. This was the ultimate need for modern times. In addition, with this shift in power, women are viewing men as more their equals, more domesticated and somewhat the same kind of contributors to our society as women.

Shift Going Further i.e., Towards Reversal of Roles

Today, women have completely dominated the jobs like nursing, waitressing and teaching. Social worker, human resources manager, and counselor are some occupations where women are highly concentrated. In many of these jobs, women are earning more than the male counterparts.  Be it a chemical engineer or a simple executive post at a company, Women are invading the male jobs successfully. Surprisingly, men are becoming the minority.

Thus, we are finding that roles are getting reversed. More women are wearing the formal suits. The men, however, are cooking the meals. 

On the other hand, women of today are flooding the workforce. Men in offices find female co-workers working in the same capacity as of theirs.

Husbands as Perfect Home Makers

In absence of a person solely responsible for household chores, Males have got the share of domestic responsibility. Now, husbands are washing dishes. They fold the bed sheets and also dust the furniture. Also now due to father’s presence during the day, children will not be sent to child care centers.

Mothers can go after their careers without worrying for children that are well cared of.

Because they are free from such duties and stress, they will surely give their best to their jobs. After work, they are relaxed enough to spend quality time with the family.

Also, men help their children in school activities. They also manage the budget far better than shopping-minded female counterparts. All of these skills, reserve their leadership role at home. In modern days, most of the perfect and renowned cooks are none other than men. So men perform well in all kind of activities.

Thus, with increased women’s preference for jobs and men accepting all the household chores, their role as a homemaker doesn’t seem like a strange one.
