1-Rajinikanth:
“Shivaji Rao Gaekwad” better known by his stage name Rajinikanth was a bus conductor in BTS(Bangalore Transport Services) and also worked as a coolie. Willing to be an actor he left his job and joined Madras Film Institute which offered acting courses. Though his family was not very supportive towards his decision to quit the job he did it and made his way out.
2-Akshay Kumar
“Rajiv Hari Om Bhatia” better known by his stage name Akshay Kumar was a martial arts trainer before he joined Bollywood.He dropped out of his high school and went to Bangkok to learn martial arts.He even worked as a waiter and chef in Bangkok. Upon his return to Mumbai, he commenced teaching martial arts.
One of his students suggested him to try modeling and surprisingly he made more money than the entire salary of teaching only in 2-days of shooting and therefore chose modeling as a career.
3-Taapsee Pannu
Taapsee Pannu was working as a software engineer before she opted to model as a career. She was selected for Channel V’s talent show “Get Gorgeous” which eventually led her to act. Afterwards, she endorsed many brands and then got fed up with her modeling thinking that there was no option for her. She then moved to acting and rest is history which tells us about movies like Pink, The Ghazi Attack, Naam Shabana.
4-Nawazuddin Siddiqui
Nawazuddin Siddiqui was born in a farmers’ family in UP. He is the eldent in eight siblings. After graduating in chemistry he worked as a chemist in Vadodara. Then moved to Delhi in search of a new job.
His heart dragged him into the field of acting after watching one play in Delhi and he acted in over ten dramas to fulfill one of the criteria to get admission in National School of Drama(NSD). He then moved to Mumbai in 1996 and got a small role in 1999 in Aamir Khan starrer-movie “Sarfarosh”.
5-Amitabh Bachchan
Born to poet Harivansh Rai Bachchan and Teji Bachchan, The Legend “AMITABH BACCHAN” used to work an executive in a shipping company Shaw Wallace. He also tried for All India Radio(AIR) but was rejected. He made his Bollywood debut in 1969 as a voice narrator. By the age of 30, he was seen as a “Failed Newcomer” with 12 flops a 2-hits. In 1973 Zanjeer was released which changed his life with the title “Angry Young Man”.
6-John Abraham
He was born into a family of mixed religious and ethnic heritage. His father was a Malayali Christian while his mother was Parsi. Before entering into Bollywood he joined the media firm Time & Space Media Entertainment Promotions Ltd., which however closed because of financial problems.He also worked as a media-planner for Enterprise-Nexus.He got his first break in erotic thriller movie Jism in 2003.
7-Ranveer Singh
Ranveer Singh Bhavnani was born into a Sindhi family in Mumbai. Since childhood, he wanted to become an actor so he participated in various dramas and debates. Afterwards feeling that idea of becoming an actor was too-far-fetched he started creative writing and worked for a few years in advertising as a copywriter, with agencies like O&M and J. Walter Thompson. He then worked as an assistant director but left it to pursue a career in acting.
8-Parineeti Chopra
She was initially aspired to pursue a career in investment banking but after completing her studies she joined Yash Raj Films as a public relation consultant. While working she got impressed with the acting and decided to quit her job and join an acting school. She was then asked for dummy audition for fun by Aditya Chopra and was selected for movie Ladies vs Ricky Bahl in 2011.
9-Sonakshi Sinha
Daughter of Shatrughan Sinha and Poonam Sinha, Sonakshi used to work as a costume designer. She made her debut in Bollywood with Dabangg (2010) which gave her best female debut award.

10-Boman Irani
He used to work as a waiter and a room service attendant in Hotel Taj in Mumbai.His passion was photography and he left the waiter job to become a photographer. He then came into contact with famous choreographer Shyamak Dabar and got his first movie Munna Bhai MBBS.
11-Ameesha Patel
Ameesha Amit Patel began her career as an economic analyst at Khandwala Securities Limited after graduation. Later on, she received an offer from Morgan Stanley but denied.She then tried her luck by joining theatre and entered Bollywood with superhit movie Kaho Na Pyar Hai in 2003.
12-Soha Ali Khan
With a masters’ degree from London School of Economics Soha Ali Khan was working as a banker in Citibank and Ford Foundation. She left her job and came with his brother Saif Ali Khan to join Bollywood. No one was pleased with her decision. Her mother wanted her to pursue a degree in law but she denied.
13-Ayushmann Khurrana
He worked as a radio jockey for Big FM, Delhi. He hosted the show Big Chai – Maan Na Maan, Main Tera Ayushmann and also won the Young Achievers Award in 2007 for it. He then moved to become Video jockey at MTV. He also worked as an anchor and hosted various shows before he moved to Bollywood.
14-Vicky Kaushal
He received various job opportunities after graduating in Electronics and telecommunication engineering but he rejected all offers to pursue his career in acting. He joined an acting workshop under Kishore Namit Kapoor and entered Bollywood with a lead role in Masaan. Before he did side roles in movies like Bombay Velvet.
15-Riteish Deshmukh
He was an architect by profession and worked for several big firms in New York after completing his graduation. Deshmukh began his film career with the 2003 romance “Tujhe Meri Kasam” with Genelia D’souza (Later married her).
