Key tips for getting the most out of a city apartment

Living in a reduced amount of space within a city, and want to make sure that you’re doing everything you can to make the most of your time there? We’ve compiled a short guide, with a few key tips and pieces of advice on getting the most out of a city apartment. Read on to find out more!

Keep it clean and clear

First things first, studies have shown that keeping a clear and tidy apartment and workspace will have a positive effect on your ability to relax, concentrate, and thus get the most out of each day. Those that take pride in their apartment space and keep on top of it regularly will likely feel better about tackling the day ahead, and it’s also less of a worry when you have visitors, too.

For an example of the type of interior and decoration style that you might decide to go with, take a look at some of the modern apartment buildings throughout cities in the UK from RWinvest. Their modern, minimalist style appeals to the young and modern professional tenant, that wants to be able to get everything out of their property while still maintaining a sleek and non-overbearing feel.

Pack light

If you’re moving into an apartment for the first time, and have previously been used to larger spaces, perhaps within a family home or a suburban house of your own, a key piece of advice would be to cut down on the things that you’re taking with you, and only stick to the stuff that you really need. If you have nowhere else for your old stuff to go, then consider selling it on, putting some extra cash in your back pocket to help kick start your journey into urban life.

Innovate with storage

Even when packing light, it can be sometimes difficult to store all of your personal possessions and belongings within a studio or one-bedroom apartment. To stop yourself from cluttering the hallways with stuff, tripping over it every time you come home from work or go to the kitchen in the night for a drink, try innovating with some different storage solutions.

Aside from the typical boxes, cabinets and cupboards that you could invest in, try looking for some different solutions, such as hanging things from walls and also even underneath different pieces of furniture. If you have tools or pieces of kitchen equipment out that you don’t use on a regular basis, see if you can hide it away until that rare occasion it’s called upon, rather than having it taking up valuable countertop real estate 24/7.

Make the most of the city around you

This final point sort of goes without saying, but one of the main reasons you’re living in an urban environment is in order to make the most of the surrounding social and professional opportunities it affords. If you’re sick of your apartment, get out there and start making some friends, or even some professional connections that you might be able to then call upon later. At the end of the day, you’re there for a reason, so get out there and make the most of it!
