Akshay and Surveen both knew each other for about two years. They met in 2013 when Surveen was shooting for the movie Hate Story which was released in 2014. It is not known where both of them met and how. But then they started spending some time together and then one thing lead to the other and eventually they tied knots to each other in 2015. They went to Italy and planned a Christian wedding set up for both of them. Despite both of them being Hindu, they chose to get married in a Christian arrangement. Surveen wore a white wedding dress and Akshay wore a black suit with a black bow.

They both decided to keep their marriage a secret for the next two years and eventually broke the news on their social media pages with their wedding photos. This was what caught the media with a fire and eventually everyone started talking about it. Both of them married in December 2017 and it has been 5 years of them in a wedding knot and 7 years of togetherness.
