How to wear banarasi saree in lehenga style

Banarasi Silk is a silk variant from Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, India. Banarasi Silk Sarees are extremely popular throughout India and around the world. These stunning Banarasi sarees have a flattering style and can be worn as both traditional and bridal wear. Because it is quite heavy and difficult to carry daily, Indian women only wear it on special occasions such as weddings and festivals. In addition to wearing a banarasi saree as a traditional saree, you can now style it into a lehenga. It’s a popular look, and many people are wearing it. Here are some ways to transform a banarasi saree into a stunning lehenga and use accessories to complete the look.

The classic drape style

The classic saree drape is an easy yet attractive style. It is simple to convert a saree into a lehenga. To make this look, take one end of the saree and pleat it along its entire length. Secure the pleated section on the left shoulder with a pin, leaving the longer fabric in front. Wrap the flowing end from the front of the saree to the back of your blouse and skirt. Pull it to the left and tuck it in at the waist. Pleat the remaining and tuck it around the waist. It is an ideal choice for weddings and festivals.

Half saree lehenga style

To create this look, put on a skirt with a crop top and need a contrasting colour banarasi saree.
Begin draping on the inner side of the saree, leaving out the majority of the saree, and then begin making normal pleats. Make pleats till the saree’s palla section. Take them, pin them, and tuck them in the centre of your waist. Then spread some out in front. Make smaller pleats on the right side of the saree and tuck them in the side waistline in front to create a cowl look. Take the left side palla and begin making pallu pleats while keeping them aligned. Bring it forward and pin it to the left shoulder like a normal saree pallu.

A traditional style Lehenga

This style is wearing the saree like a lehenga. Wrap the saree around the petticoat then start with the basic tuck on the right and wrap once around. Initiate making small pleats on the right side and tuck in the waistline. Continue pleating the lengthwise section and tucking forward each time. Do this until you reach the pallu, then fold it inwards and tuck it on the right side. This completes the saree, and you’ve created a Lehenga out of it.

A saree dupatta Lehenga Style

You can use a Banarsi saree as a dupatta on a lehenga. Take the complete saree and make pleats of the pallu as well. After doing the process of pleating properly, now tuck them well. You can drape the pleated pallu like a dupatta in the shape of a V. It gives a unique way to convert the saree into beautiful party wear.

Stitch Old saree into a lehenga

If you have an old banarasi saree stashed away, here’s a chic way to transform it into a stunning lehenga. The saree’s body into a skirt and the pallu into a dupatta. The skirt will have the same allure as a traditional drape saree. Banarsi sarees will create longer and flowy skirts. It is ideal for weddings because it is simple to wear and pairs well with stunning accessories.

Infinity saree drape style

This pattern is another fashionable way of draping a saree from the usual simple drape. You can experiment using a multicolour mix of two diverse colours of saree and blouse. To create this particular saree look, you have to begin by making regular nivi or roughly pleat the pallu. Pin the drape pallu in front of the left shoulder. Pleat the rest of the left fabric and tuck it. You can add a waist chain to highlight your look.

Saree over Cancan Skirt

This pattern is another trendy style women favour over the traditional lehenga. You must have a cancan skirt as the base and a vibrant colour blouse or crop top to enhance the look. Start by draping your banarasi saree from the ride side and start pleating the fabric from the left side. Continue pleating and tucking each pleat around the waist of the skirt one by one. Leave some fabric and pin the open saree palla on the left shoulder. Add traditional jewellery to enhance your entire party look for weddings and festivals.

Saree into two elegant drapes

Put on a full skirt not a petticoat. Begin draping from the right side and work your way around the skirt. Make a thin, aligned pleat with the palla and drape it over your left shoulder like a saree. Tuck the excess fabric to the left side to give the appearance of a dupatta. Complete your look with jewellery and bangles to shine at the event.

FINAL TALK

There is no longer any restriction on how to drape a saree. You can create a fusion look by combining different items for a fashionable look. Apart from wearing them as traditional sarees, you can refashion them into beautiful lehengas, gowns, dresses, blouses, dupattas, and many more. Banarasi and other silk sarees make you stand out from the crowd. It is a trending fashion among women for occasions like weddings and other functions.
