Omega-3 Fish Oil: Benefits, Myths Vs. Facts

Omega-3 fatty acids are polyunsaturated fatty acids which are also known as healthy fats. It is popular to cure various human diseases like dementia, heart disease, and chronic diseases.

Well, fish oil is considered to be almost 30% Omega-3 fatty acids. Sea oily fish like tuna and cod are the source of extracting these oils. We have found various benefits of omega-3 fish oil. For instance, it can treat the conditions of humans in cognition, visual acuity, brain development, autism, ADHD, behavior, and intelligence.

Well, the main component in fish oil is the presence of Omega-3 fatty acids. The family of Omega-3 fatty acids includes ALA, SDA, EPA, DHA, and DPA. Among all these, fish oil considers DHA, EPA, and DPA.

Apart from the previously maintained benefits, a few crucial benefits are unavoidable for human nutrition and health development.

Considering the benefits of Omega-3 fish oil, there are also some myths available in the market. If you do not have appropriate knowledge regarding fish oil, it will not be possible for you to take the best benefit of the supplements.

Benefits Of Omega-3 Fish Oil

Finding the benefits is crucial, and more crucial is finding the real facts related to any medication. Though fish oil is not any medicine, it is rather a supplement to help develop nutritional aspects in the human body.

Let’s find out the particular beneficial facts related to what makes Omega-3 fish oil so special

Myth 1: Omega-3 Fish Oil Has No Positive Role In Autism

Fact

Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is a critical condition that occurs in children and has no prominent cure. But if we can take care of their nutritional parts, it will be helpful for them to improve their symptoms.

Common symptoms of an autistic child may include inappropriate and repetitive behavior, depression, anxiety, and lack of communication and interaction abilities. Besides, brain inflammation is a common issue in autistic children.

Well, Omega-3 fatty acids have anti-inflammatory properties such as interleukin-6 and C-reactive protein. These will help autistic children get rid of brain inflammation if they consume fish oil.

Apart from that, depression is a common symptom of autistic children. Here comes fish oil again to help treat depression with EPA and DHA.

Myth 2: Omega-3 Fish Oil Supplements Do Not Help Lower Cholesterol

Fact

Many people do not consider that Omega-3 fish oil can help reduce the level of cholesterol in the human body.

But the fact is that 1.2 g of DHA for six weeks may help you to decrease the level of triglyceride and increase good cholesterol levels. Serving as a huge health benefit and inclusion in your diet.

Additionally, Omega-3 helps to reduce the part of low-density lipoproteins (LDL) and “bad” cholesterol in our body.

If you consume fish oil supplements, you will be able to replace dietary saturated fats with monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fatty acids.

Myth 3: Diet Is Enough To Meet Omega-3 Recommendations

Fact

People think that a diet is enough to consume enough Omega-3 fatty acids. But it is not possible for all people to consider such a diet which can help them meet the target.

Moreover, children with autism need better omega-3 concentration in their bodies to function well and lead better lives.

A normal diet will not help them get enough fatty acids. On the other hand, due to their unconditional behavior, they already lack their normal diet and generally avoid fish because they are too sensitive to touch and smell.

The only solution is to go for fish oil supplements which can contain enough Omega-3 fatty acids in their diet.

Myth 4: Reduce The Risk Of Death By Heart Disease

Fact

The biggest myth about Omega-3 fish oil is that it can prevent death due to heart diseases. But the real fact is that it can help reduce the risk of health diseases. These two concepts are totally different.

The presence of EPA in fish oil helps treat cardiovascular events effectively.

Myth 5: Fish Oil Smell And Taste Fishy

Fact

As we all know that sea fish smells bad, we simply consider that fish oil supplements will also smell high and bad.

But in high quality Omega-3 fish oil supplements from brands such as Simple Spectrum, it does not have any bad odors.

So you can simply go for omega-3 fish oil supplements as studies suggested that it helped 28% of autistic children to deal with their symptoms.
