“Kapil Sharma Comedy Show”- quite a popular show on Indian Television is surely a show all of us are aware of. The show is quite popular for their humor and fun the crew and cast create on the show. There’s no way one can dislike this show and the TRP of the show says it all. Host of the show Kapil invites renown personalities and this time it was the “Dangal sisters” Geeta and Babita along with their complete Phogaat family including the man Mahavir Singh Phogaat whose role was portrayed by Aamir Khan in the recent movie Dangal.
The show started on a appealing gesture where appraising these talented athletes and talking on women empowerment which we absolutely liked. But at the end I personally realised the show went on a node where no longer it was about the athletes and their respect and the main motto turned towards comedy and stupid humor which somewhere was an ridiculous attempt to disgrace these talented athletes. Here are the three points which we find worthless, fake and absolutely an attempt to disgrace athletes on such big platform.
Contents
1. The Dresses That Are Provided To The Athletes And Looks Like An Attempt To Disgrace Their Actual Origin
The dresses that show designer picked up for their guests made the athletes uncomfortable throughout the show. The wrestlers somewhere represented Indian moral values and it would have been better if they were presented as strong Indian woman, not in such type of clothes which made them uncomfortable. It looked like an attempt to take them away from their origin.
Note- I personally don’t find it offensive wearing western clothes, but representing Indian athletes in Indian attire might represent India more strongly.
2. Making Mahavir Singh Phogaat Wear A Western hat and then Insulting it over again and again.
The man who broke each and every stereotypes just to raise her four daughters in such an inspiring way should definitely not disrespected like this when firstly he was forced to wear such a hat with traditional clothes and then the cast of the show constantly making fun of it. I found this way of putting humor disgraceful.
3. Making them Fight In Such Attire And Making Fun Of Their Wrestling Talent
Their discomfort was visible and the whole scenario for me came like making a fun of their talent. I completely agree that the show is based on comedy but it should not entertain tricks like this with talented athletes like Geeta and Babita as they are far from Bollywood fraternity with whom these pranks can look joyful.
On a heavier note, all I can say that the show made me rethink about the agenda which they wanted to fulfil. They certainly used the fame and name of these athletes to give an TRP boost to their own show.
Sorry Kapil, But we totally disliked your way of representing women empowerment.
