With the end of the year closing in fast looking back at our new year’s resolutions did we manage to stick to them or were they gone before the end of January? Quite often there are promises we make ourselves about diets, working out, learning new skills, quitting smoking or other bad habits. Sometimes it can be easier to put less pressure on a certain aspect and just aim to live our next year as a better version of ourselves.
Letting Go
It’s only human to hold onto our negative emotions like bitterness, jealousy, hatred amongst countless others. When we hold onto these emotions, they can make us feel down and quite often our emotions can be the source of our bad habits. A very commonly known example of this can be comfort eating, when you might have had a bad day and decide you are going engorge yourself in junk foods to try to make yourself feel better. It is always easy to tell people to let go of their negative emotions and to try being more positive, but it truly is a good step to try take in helping you deal with the different problems you encounter.
Declutter
Sentimentality and attachment can force us to hold on to some very obscure objects that most likely will never get used in our lifetime and just takes up space. As the year comes to a close it’s good to clear out unnecessary things taking up space in our homes and make room for the new. When you realise how much space you create, you’ll make room for new positive items you want to bring into your life. Often, it’s good to reward yourself by treating yourself perhaps shop for sneakers, get yourself a new gadget or some sort of beauty product. If you find yourself getting rid of a few pairs of old shoes a good treat would definitely be something like a pair of Givenchy sneakers. This way, you’ll have one favourite item and less clutter in your home.
Step Out the Comfort Zone
It can be easy to get stuck in the same patterns and routines day after day we find ourselves craving new forms of excitement. It’s important we commit ourselves to new things and really get out of the comfort zone. When you look back at the year maybe there are some things you wish you hadn’t done but you don’t want to look back at the things you could have done. Learning new skills, taking up new hobbies or even just getting out to meet friends on those nights when you just want to stay at home are all ways to step outside of the comfort zone. As we mix up our routines a little bit it becomes easier to see our day to day pattern and things more positively.
There is all manner of things we can do to start to live our lives more positively and become better versions of ourselves. In a world full of ever-growing problems, it’s important to look after ourselves and our mental well being and it’s important to not put too much pressure on ourselves.
Make sure to make some changes in the new year and don’t forget to treat yourself!
